I love this article. This is the truth. I would like for you to go on and give your understanding of what name we should use to baptize ourselves in?

Jacob,

I will continue to pray that God will heal that which has become corrupted. "As for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you have learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus." 2Tim14-15.

I love you bro... stand firm, let your theology be fixed...

Jacob,
I am especially comforted by:

The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life.
The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.

He either is Lord or He is not. I proclaim that He is Lord. He will care for you and your family.

Know that we are all in prayer for you. Keep us informed and let us know what we can do.

Your brother in Christ,
Russ

As I intercede for you today, I am reminded of the scripture, Isaiah 49:16: "See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me." You are both tied very tightly to His hands. He is and will remain as close as your next breath. We love you both and will continue to seek God for His healing and a surreal, unmistakeable, only Jesus kind of peace.

Jacob, in the hardest times we have no choice but to look up and realize we how mighty the Lord is. Thank you for sharing what is happening and this Psalm. You have an opportunity to reflect how great His is by how you walk through this. We will stand with you however you need us to.

Your faith in the face of this adversity makes a greater impact on those around you than anything else you can do. You are a rock for Kathy and the family as long as you stay firm on The Rock of Jesus.

Your friend

Comment on The Value of Salvation by Denny

I completely agree. Many Christians view the cross and their salvation as the means to some end, instead of the end itself. For example, looking to Christ to give you prosperity, instead of looking to him as your prosperity. When this happens we search for something more glorious than Christ crucified. Not necessarily realizing what we are doing, we aim to put something on a higher pedestal than Christ and the cross. (i.e. - To put gifts above the Giver.)

Here is a sad observation made by Robert B. Strimple in the April 2010 Tabletalk (pg. 76): "Rather than preaching [the biblical gospel] with joy in its full riches and in the power of the Holy Spirit, too many assume their hearers' acceptance of that gospel and preach sermons on more "practical" matters such as how to be better spouses, parents, money-managers, and so on. And the sad irony is that without a firm foundation in the fundamentals of our Christian faith, the hearers of such sermons are not achieving even those practical goals."

He goes on to show that -- not only are people NOT achieving those goals -- people (especially those just entering adulthood) are walking away from the faith at alarming rates.

Christ crucified needs to be always before us as we go about our everyday lives.

Communication or Revelation?

The rational Western minds are used to instant communication, which is why we heap honors upon our most able communicators. We expect writings or saying to be immediately comprehensive. We watch world events as they happen and want the facts - quickly and conveniently. Scripture does not emanate from a high-tech, word-processed Western culture. God did not give his Word for the sake of instant communication because His purpose is to transform living human beings into His likeness.

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works." (2 Tim 3:16-17 KJV)

The Eastern mind works in a different way; it has a distinctive approach to communication especially relating to spirituality. The idea is that hearers are meant to struggle with its inner meaning. Consider the following strange saying Jesus made, “He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.” (Matt 11:15 KJV)

The inference is the willingness to struggle with the inner meaning until the meaning behind the words begins to emerge and become clear. This comparison between East and West does lay down a challenge to our assumptions about the "right" use of language and the way we approach the biblical texts.

God chose to initiate the process of revelation, to make Himself known to a culture who is only impress with having eyes to see and ears to hear but is not participating with the truth. It is unfortunate that we have not understood that revelation is not a charisma of new truths but rather a spiritual process required for transformation.

Kingdom Culture is knowing the Truth and the correct response to Jesus himself.

I actually listen to the sermon the other day before I came across your site. It definitely stood out to me. Our christianity is plagued with comformity to worldly standards, and apathy towards the standards of God. Being a christian is almost equal to being spiritual which by just means to believe in God (some don't acknowledge Him). But the truly converted cannot have an encounter with God and not be changed. But with our short attention span we must feed that Spirit within with a daily dose of His word. I always say continual growth cannot happen of one of the following is lacking, the Word, worship, and witness.
