The Tone is Set

Philemon 1:1-2

The tone for Paul’s letter is set. It is one of equality and charity.

Greetings

Philemon 1:2

Paul sends his greetings to Philemon and those with him, grace and peace.

Paul greeted Philemon’s family and the church meeting in his house.

Paul calls Philemon a beloved fellow worker because of his cherished work for the gospel.

Timothy, a Brother

Philemon 1:1

The humble introduction continues in Paul’s letter to Philemon. He includes Timothy who is our brother.

Paul, a Prisoner

Philemon 1:1

Paul refers to himself as “a prisoner” rather than an apostle humbling himself to his beloved brother.

Every written message has a tone interwoven in the fibers of each word. Paul sets the tone.

A life lesson on forgiveness told through the interaction between Paul, Philemon and Onesimus.

Zechariah

Common Person, Uncommon Priest

Rather than a famous king, God chooses a common man to be the father of the great John the baptist. However, he was a devout priest.
